LEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Meet Blake Massengill
Blake Massengill, one of Wake County’s youngest mayors, was elected to lead Fuquay-Varina in 2021 and is now seeking his third term. Deeply rooted in the community since childhood, Massengill, 41, started his municipal service on the Town Planning Board, later joining the Town Board in 2013 and serving as Mayor Pro Tempore for six years before becoming mayor.
Focused Leadership
Since taking office, Massengill has prioritized transportation improvements, economic development, public safety, and enhancing Fuquay-Varina’s quality of life. He has championed over $63 million in infrastructure projects—including completed upgrades and future investments—to ease congestion, upgrade major intersections, widen roads, and optimize traffic signals for safer commutes.
Public Safety and Community Well-Being
Under Massengill’s leadership, Fuquay-Varina has been recognized as North Carolina’s safest small town in 2023 and 2024. Notable initiatives include building a new fire station, placing police officers in every school, and strengthening water and sewer systems for resident peace of mind. He is especially proud of the Hilltop Needmore Town Park Community Center—with dedicated senior space—and expanding greenways and parks to encourage recreation for all ages.
Regional Collaboration and Civic Service
Massengill represents Fuquay-Varina on the Executive Boards of CAMPO and the NC Metropolitan Mayors Coalition, serves ex-officio with the Chamber of Commerce, and is an active member of the Downtown Association and Arts Center. He regularly volunteers in local schools, especially as a participant in classroom reading programs. In addition, he is a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #116.
Accessible Leadership and Committed to Fuquay-Varina
Massengill believes good government starts with open conversation. He is regularly visible at community meetings and events, approachable to residents, and committed to building a safer, stronger, and more connected town focused on the needs and aspirations of every citizen.
Personal and Educational Background
Blake holds both a bachelor’s and an MBA from North Carolina State University. With his wife Heather and their two children, Jake and Anna, he actively engages in community affairs and local service organizations, including the Fuquay-Varina Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Association, and United Methodist Church.
